Where was Nicki’s boyfriend Safaree when this went down? Is she cheating on him with Drake, or can she just blame it on the alcohol? Find out the rest of the details at MEDIATAKEOUT.

5 Secrets The Music Industry Doesn't want you To Know

The New Forms Of Payola In 2011: The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

Q-Tip said it best back in 1991, “Industry Rule # 4080, record company people are shady!” Starting in the early days of the music business with Blues and Rock & Roll, payola was once the most popular underhand practice.
Record companies and managers would bribe radio DJ's to give their artists radio play. Although illegal, this practice has never stopped and continues to be used today, albeit in more subtle forms. Rule # 4080 still applies and the methods industry execs use have evolved over time.
With the rise in new technology and the dominance of the internet threatening the music industry's outdated business model, new “questionable” tactics have been developed to help labels stay afloat. Here are just 5 secrets the music industry doesn't want you to know!

1. Views, Likes, and Followers
Have you ever checked out a YouTube video only because it had a lot of views and you were curious to see why? Are you more likely to follow an artist on Twitter who has 324,687 followers rather than one who has 54? Are you the type of person to be first to “Like” an artist on Facebook or would you check to see that this artist already has a lot of “Likes” before you join in?
While you may think that looking at numbers is a ridiculous way to evaluate an artist's worth (and it is!), millions around the world feel otherwise. Sad as it may be, high numbers often propel artists to celebrity status. Young and impressionable minds, which the industry targets since they're the largest consumer base, often assume that if a video has millions of views, it must be good. And even if they don't really like the video, they support it anyway because everyone else seems to. But here's the dirty secret:
YouTube views, Facebook “Likes”, and Twitter followers can be bought for a moderate fee.

There are now dozens of companies who specialize in increasing numbers. Some companies use special technology to achieve their goals while others claim to be able to get thousands of “real” followers. If that weren't crazy enough, “positive” YouTube comments supposedly written by real people can also be purchased!
This kind of practice is deceptive as hell and makes it difficult for aspiring artists who have to compete against those who have the means to buy such services. I guess quality doesn't matter when you can just buy your way to popularity.

2. Buying the # 1 Spot
Once YouTube Views, Facebook “Likes”, and Twitter followers have been bought, it's time for the label to really go all out and buy thousands of CD's and downloads to help the artist get to # 1 within the first couple of weeks of release. Since sales have been declining due to free and illegal downloads, it's become more and more challenging for artists to hit the top of the charts.

Get More: Music News

This is why some labels are buying their own products (often with the artist's money), in hope that achieving # 1 will generate publicity and result in more sales and touring opportunities. The idea is that the average fan is more likely to support an artist who appears to have a large following. It's all about image and perception, and for today's mainstream music fan, this counts more than talent.

3. Professional Reviewers
Ever read customer reviews on Amazon or iTunes? Some are brief, misspelled, and poorly thought out while others are thorough and clearly expressed, almost as if a “professional” had written it. Shockingly, that's exactly what's happening!
Writers are paid to act like customers and write positive reviews. Sometimes, these writers are simply part of the artist's team, other times, they're professional writers who get hired for their review services. Companies have gotten in trouble for this kind of practice but this hasn't stopped it from happening. Again, this makes it difficult for new artists who don't have the means to compete against this kind of deception.

4. Wardrobe Malfunctions, Nude Pics, and Sex Videos
Every week, there seems to be another naked celebrity in the news: Nicki Minaj and Kelly Rowland's wardrobe malfunctions a couple of days apart from each other, Rhianna's explicit pics popping up regularly, and sex videos of B and C list entertainers leaked on every gossip site.
Sure, one could claim that these “indecent exposures” are just accidents or that intimate pictures and videos are leaked by spiteful exes and hackers. If so, why does it keep happening every week? If celebrities are truly as appalled and embarrassed as they claim to be when their naked bodies are leaked for the world to see, why do they keep such pictures and videos of themselves on their phones and computers if it's that risky?

Nicki Minaj Performs On 'Good Morning America', Has Nipple Slip [Pics + Video]

Why do artists continue to perform in outfits that barely cover them up and then act shocked when a breast pops out? Truth is, most of these incidents are planned by the artists and their team for publicity. As soon as the pictures or videos are leaked, hundreds of blogs and sites repost them right away.
Millions of Facebook and Twitter users repost them as well. In a matter of 24 to 48 hours, that artist is Googled millions of times which causes their name to “Trend” online or on Twitter and increases their search ranking. For the artist, this is an amazing free promotional tool that would otherwise cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in marketing.

All it takes is a little nudity and the public becomes their street team, their sales increase, the gossip sites have new content that drives traffic to them, and everyone's happy…except for real artists with real talent who can't get the same “free” promotion because they're more interested in making music than showing their rear-ends and boobs …which leads me to the next point…

5. Fake Beef, Phony Stories, and Controversy
Replace wardrobe issues, nude pics, and sex videos with fake beef, phony stories, and controversy and the result is the same: free publicity.
Did Soulja Boy buy himself a $55 million jet for his 21st birthday? Is Rick Ross really threatening Kreayshawn? Did Wayne really take shots at Jay Z? Does Kanye actually have 6 toes? Ok, I made that one up but you get the idea!
When an artist, or an assistant pretending to be them, tweets something weird, crazy, unusual, or controversial, they know that it'll spread in a matter of hours and eventually make the top blogs and gossip sites who welcome this kind of foolishness. And again, everyone seems to get something out of it. There was a time when this type of nonsense would have hurt an artist's career. Now, it sustains it…and that's pitiful.

There are many more industry secrets. Some of the ones discussed here are well documented. I also know that some of you are sharp enough to see through the hype and didn't need anyone to fill you in on what's going on behind closed doors.
As well, I know that quite a few artists become successful without using these tactics. Still, you can bet that the more resources an artist has access to, the greater the chances are that at least one of these methods has been utilized. Do your own research and you'll probably discover many more shocking methods.
The question remains, as competitive as this business is, would you use these methods if you had the resources to do so?
Comment and let us know.

Lebron James Just might Try out For the NFL

Rumors Say he was Practicing in full pads at his Former high school in Cleveland, OH

The NBA is in a state of lockout sadness that never hit the NFL -- the first two weeks of the NBA season were cancelled by David Stern and no one knows what to do. Well, other than watch football in the mean time. Or, if you're LeBron James, maybe play football.

James hopped on Twitter Tuesday and created quite a stir in discussing the possibility when he asked John Clayton of ESPN when the deadline to sign free agents was.

Pete Carroll then made jokes about how much James would make as an undrafted rookie free agent (it's not much!). LeBron then pointed out that it's more than he makes.

This is true. It's also true that every single NFL team would KILL to get LeBron on their team right now. Not only is he a 6'8", 250-pound athletic freak with great hands, but he would crank the value of that team's tickets through the roof, and merchandise sales would be absurd.

Where would he play? My choice would be tight end, because he's like a lovechild of Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham, but with better jumping ability and experience playing football. Or something.

He'd be special. It would be fun to watch. But it's probably not happening -- there's like a semi-reasonable chance that LeBron could suffer a career-ending injury playing for a non-guaranteed contract in football, which would likely nullify his current contract with the Heat. And that's just bad business.

There's also the issue of whether the NFL would let him play, as that might be a bit touchy with their compatriots at the NBA. We reached out to get a comment from the league but they hadn't responded at the time of this posting.

Diggy Vows Not To Curse in his Music

“When people hear me say certain types of things, they say, I wonder what Rev would think, I wouldn’t say anything in the first place that would be shameful to my family anyway, but I am me at the end of the day.”

And staying true to himself means not using profanity, even though his peers may do so. “That’s not even me trying to beclean. I don’t need it, I don’t need to curse in my rhymes or in any of my songs,” explained a confident Diggy.

So far he’s made good on his word with his popular mixtapes and single “Copy Paste,” and sees no need to change. “Honestly, I haven’t really sat down and said, when I’m older I’m gonna curse or when I’m older, I’m not, but I don’t see myself cursing anytime soon,” he said. “I don’t think I should ever use it, honestly. I guess I’m making the decisionnow, I’m never gonna curse. There’s no point.”

Diggy’s vulgarity-free debut is tentatively due this December on Atlantic Records.

Chris Brown Gay?

Virtually unknown R&B singer Martyn has a new claim to F.A.M.E.: he's the man who alleged that he’s had sex with Chris Brown (pictured).

The singer, who names the Spice Girls as one of his major musical influences, reportedly tweeted comments that intimated he had sex with the “She Ain’t You” singer; however, Martyn denied that he had anything to do with the news.

“I’ve decided to stay quiet about this…I refuse to be part of this,” he wrote. However, those messages weren’t posted until after comments that seemed to confirm the rumors.

“I’ll confirm it. It’s all over the web. And twitter,” he posted.

Chris, who has been accused of using gay slurs when angry, denied the rumors.

“Cmon son .. Now I got a n_gga out here lying for 2 minutes of Fame. (that’s a pause moment my G) I’ll let my lawyers handle it from here..,” Chris tweeted.

Unfortunately for Chris, this is not the first time he’s been accused of engaging in sex with men. However, few of his fans or detractors seem to be persuaded by Martyn’s claims.

Martyn's accusatory tweets also alluded to sexual encounters between Martyn and Trey Songz.

Miss Chee: No Limit's Princess

Move over boys, Miss Chee is ready to take the mic! Backed by Master P and the rest of the No Limit Forever family, the up-and-coming femcee has been grindin’ hard, perfecting her craft and waiting for her time in the spotlight. Fierce, sexy and talented, Miss Chee is pure street and isn’t afraid to show it lyrically. But besides being able to spit tight verses, the authentic Georgia girl is a multi-talented musician and a skilled producer and songwriter.

Working on tracks for her LP release, Miss Chee is lending her vocals on a variety of efforts from her No Limit family, including Master P on their latest release “Boyfriend & Girlfriend.” Not only is she a great rapper, but she’s testing her skills at acting in Mater P’s upcoming movie Get Money. Poised to be the next bad ass female in hip-hop, Miss Chee is getting’ ready to take over with the help of Master P, who’s also gearing up his No Limit crew for big things come 2012. Here’s what P had to say about his talented artist, his new ventures and No Limit Forever.

Music:
Monstah aka Master P Ft. Miss Chee and Romeo "Google Me"
Romeo Ft. Miss Chee, Ace, Oak Tree and Kay I "The Statement"

AllHipHop.com: What did you see in Miss Chee that made you want to sign her?

Master P: Miss Chee is the beat female artist in the game right now. When I first came out Mia X was one of the baddest females ever to hit the mic. Her word play, the way she articulates and the way she delivers is real it’s street, it’s relatable, and I think that’s what it’s gonna take a big female artist to blow. I mean, Nicki Minaj did it at her level and now Miss Chee has an opportunity to do it for the next generation to take the game to the next level. I think a lot of females off the street can relate to her and her struggles. It ain’t no limit to what she could do.

AllHipHop.com: How did the idea for the track, “Boyfriend & Girlfriend,” come about?

Master P: I think it’s gonna be incredible. I don’t think there’s a song out at this time on the streets that men and women can relate to. She got incredible acting skills, which makes her so strong. On the music side, she’s a beast on the mic. You have to have those delivery skills to have both men and women like you.

Miss Chee: We are showing people men and women can work together. He got my back just like I have his. We just are putting out something positive and being real at the same time.

AllHipHop.com: So what are your plans for her career?

Master P: I predict she’s gonna be the biggest female in the game. She’s a brand and opening up avenues and doors. Nicki Minaj is at the top right now and feel that with every Kobe Bryant come along a Lebron James, and Miss Chee is the next Lebron coming into the game now. With her work ethic, she’s unstoppable. Thanks to the power of the Internet she has an international fan base already. Before that was something that took you a long time to build.

AllHipHop.com: What’s it like working with Master P?

Miss Chee: Growing up, especially coming from the South and coming from the streets, all you heard was No Limit. It was like the soundtrack to my life. And now to be blessed with the opportunity to work with someone of his stature is truly a blessing. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t learn anything from him. A lot of people get titles, but the streets gave me my name and he just stamped it. I’m getting the chance to live out my dreams. What I lot of people don’t understand is it’s a business and there’s so much more behind the scenes. He’s not only teaching me that but also about life. Everyday I wake up I have to thank the man upstairs for putting me in this position.

AllHipHop.com: So who did you find out about Miss Chee’s talents?

Master P: One of my A&R guys from Atlanta had heard of her since she was grindin’ hard doing it on her own. Then Romeo rebranded the company to No Limits Forever and they got together and one thing led to the next. So this ended up being a family business and we made her a part of the family. We not running a race, we running a marathon. We want to find real artists. She was a diamond in the rough and now she’s polished to take over the game because she worked hard. We want those types of people who work out to overcome their environment and don’t mind grinding it out until it’s their time. And that’s what we did and now it’s our time. I did it once and am doing it again, but bigger ’cause of the new technology. We don’t care about who’s out there because there is enough for a lot of people.

Music is a timing thing. You gotta wait for it. She’s been doing that. We’re not in a rush. This is the next big artist of next year. She know she’s a star but she’s also humble and patiently waiting until the fans approver her. What we doing now is just hitting the road, getting music online, in the clubs on the radio then game over.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the journey been like, Miss Chee?

Miss Chee: Like he said. People don’t realize this is not something that happens overnight. I’ve been doing music since I was very young. My musical background is what really kept me out of these streets. I am from Zone 6 in Atlanta, which is a very rough neighborhood. But I made it out because I worked hard. I would do every show, all the clubs, and was grindin’ hard. I had other labels come at me but they didn’t fit me. As a female in the industry, you find people that don’t respect you. But I’m a testament that you don’t have to put yourself in an uncomfortable position to make it ahead in this game. When I finally did get contact from the No Limit family, it was a blessing. I found someone who respected me and believed in what I was doing. It’s a blessing to be with No Limit Forever.

Master P: I think what she said is also incredible too ’cause if you look good there’s a lot of males looking to take advantage of females in this business who can’t see. Here she came out of the same neighborhood as Gucci Mane and other artists and overcome the struggle. And for her to represent No Limit Forever and be the first lady of this next generation is a blessing for all of us.

AllHipHop.com: Do you have a particular musical style?

Miss Chee: I like to call my music “life music” because we’re talking about real situations that people go through everyday. I feel that things that you see on TV are not attainable and people who haven’t lived that lifestyle won’t understand that. It’s okay to talk about the struggle and everyday situations. For me, music is my medicine, what got me out. I’m just a walking testament that with my music you can really do something with yourself.

AllHipHop.com: What sets you apart from other female MCs?

Miss Chee: I’m just me, honestly. I don’t try to be anything that I’m not. I don’t talk things I haven’t seen or been through. I’m a rough diamond.

Master P: Her music is more for the streets, and I don’t hear a lot of female artists talking about that. She’s versatile, but her foundation is the streets. I’m the king of the streets and she’s the queen. Like me, she’ll always have a connection to the hood no matter how many money she makes.

AllHipHop.com: So what’s next for Miss Chee?

Master P: The main thing right now that we’re doing is we dumping sometime every week online and building that brand. You can hate us now but we gonna keep dumping on you ’til you love us. Her music speaks for itself. We got another mixtape called “Bonnie and Clyde” coming out soon. She’s all over the movie soundtrack, so you defintiley are gonna hear her on that. We’re building her fan base. 2012 is No Limit time and it’s Miss Chee time.

AllHipHop.com: Are you still working on your TV network, P?

Master P: Yup, I’ve been dealing with distribution companies lately. We in the middle of it. Music is my life and no matter how I grow, I’m always going to be looked on as a person who comes from the music world. I’ve grown to be able to see other things and know what the game is missing and want to help the next generation open doors to bigger projects. There’s not many African-American networks for us. We gonna have talk shows, videos, movies, sitcoms, health shows, finance shows and more.

AllHipHop.com: What about the new No Limit Forever Records? How is it different from before and what’s its current place in hip-hop?

Master P: It’s a new army and we ready to take over these streets because it’s our time. We have all the tools and talent to make it work and that’s when music gets to be exciting. To come from the ’90s and still be relevant in the 2000s, I feel like Benjamin Button around here and got some young legs with me here like Miss Chee. You know what I’m sayin’? I feel the game is ours. We married to the money. It’s like business and we gonna get out here and get this money. We gonna change the game again. We building a bigger fan base every week and our goal here now is to be able to reach billions of people internationally. Right now, we got our eyes on some international artists and expanding globally. We looking for new talent, too, so submit your stuff if you think you can be part of our family. Submit your stuff atnolimitforeverrecords.com. We back…the takeover!
